Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word that means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’. Eastern traditions have always recognised and worked with this energy as a natural system of healing.

Universal Energy is all around us, it flows through all living things and is vital to our health. When giving or receiving Reiki, we’re allowing a better flow of this energy to work with the body’s inner wisdom, supporting its natural healing to help restore vitality, harmony and balance, leading to improved health and wellbeing.

There are many different forms of Reiki, all of which utilise this natural energy flow.  Usui Reiki was developed by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist monk and scholar, during the first part of the last century.

Karuna Reiki® has its foundations in Usui and Tibetan Reiki and was developed by an American Reiki Master, William Rand, through experimentation with non-Reiki symbols.  This later evolved into a new system of healing he named Karuna Reiki®. 'Karuna' is a Sanskrit word meaning 'compassionate action', and can best be described as any action which reduces the suffering of others.

Karuna®  Reiki

Karuna Reiki® is very powerful and brings in energies that are of a higher vibration.  So at the same time as being extremely gentle, it efficiently helps to transform deep-seated held energy patterns which may be causing imbalance and unwanted symptoms.  This can occur without the need to experience intense emotional releases or re-live traumatic experiences and so provides a wonderful opportunity to replace fear and worry with total peace and serenity.

It lovingly surrounds and infuses both the healer and the recipient, compared to the flowing quality of Usui Reiki, creating the space to allow the body to heal from deep within, and encouraging new healthy patterns to unfold.

How  can  Reiki  help  me?

Reiki is holistic, it goes directly to the areas where it’s needed, connecting with all levels of the mind, body and spirit.  It’s used both independently and together with other conventional or complementary treatments to help relieve pain, balance the emotions and mentally calm and soothe.  This is often experienced as a profound sense of peace and contentment,

Having a Reiki session is not only a blissful way of feeling deeply relaxed and a great way to reduce stress, but a treatment can also give rise to clarity of mind and allow insights into problems you may be experiencing.  Having a greater understanding of issues which are stopping you from being where you want to be in your life is invaluable and can lead to the release of previously held hurt, anger and fear, leaving you feeling lighter and with a new sense of freedom.

Because Reiki is such a gentle therapy, it can be suitable for everyone, from the newborn to the frail and elderly, during pregnancy and after surgery, regardless of your state of health. You don’t need to have any beliefs when receiving Reiki, so it’s possible for anyone to experience its benefits, including babies and animals.

Reiki can also be used to encourage and support any positive personal changes you may wish to make, such as adopting a healthier lifestyle.  It has helped to improve the quality of relationships, whether at home or at work, and so allow a more resourced state of being.
